The nostalgic feeling tied to smell is unexplainable. The images that run through your mind so quickly bring you back to a time that once was. Sometimes it brings you to a place you used to once be. This sensation of reminiscing isn't all necessarily good. I've most definitely come across the smells that don't leave the best taste in my mouth and I can only imagine how something so little, yet so powerful can affect others.
This 'thing' came to me when I smelled the scent of a certain bush. I have no idea what type of plant it is or where it originates or any detail tied to this bush. However, this plant gives me an overwhelming sensation of comfort. I had to play detective in my own mind for a few seconds and figure out why I felt this way. Then it hit me, my grandmother's house in Oregon. This plant is the same one that lies right outside my grandmother's front door.
With that, I can take a quick second to feel the comfort and warmth of my grandmother's home that I only visit a few times a year.
It's that 'little' smell that can warm up my day.

back at it.
The two posts below are from a blog I started March 21, 2011.
I probably should have titled that blog 'the little things' because it was so little. Truth is a little thing made me want to start this again. A good friend of mine reminded me of it and brought back my original thoughts and reasons for wanting to blog. They may be little, but significant.
Here's to trying to get back at it.
May the little things continue to make my day and yours, that much better.

words of affirmation.

1.the act or an instance of affirming; state of being affirmed.
Now this is something that can be so
little yet do so much. Let’s just say I’ve had a mehr day. That’s the
best way of describing it. (mehr [mer] 1. the act of feeling crappy and
just lame) So… getting just a few words of affirmation really changed my
mood in general and now I have that little push to get through the day.
Really. That’s all it took.
That’s the little thing that made my day better.

the little things.
I have always been known as the ‘little one’ amongst well, pretty much everyone. Not just really super tall people or anything, but the majority of the general population.
*Disclaimer: this is not a problem for me in any way whatsoever, so if you’ve called me little, don’t feel bad. Just be happy you were the inspiration for this blog!*
So... my point. I was just thinking today about the little things in life that make it all worth it, or that much better. Not saying that I am that LITTLE THING in your life that makes it better or anything, well maybe that’s the case, but there are also other even smaller things that make life that much better. So I hope to find things daily that I can just write about that make my life particularly better.
I mean like I said, it's the little things that make our life better... even if its this little blog.
